The
Model 800 is the most affordable iSeries server with solutions specifically
designed for small to medium sized businesses. You can easily manage your Model
800 from a Windows-based PC, and training personnel in Model 800 operations can
be quick and easy.
The Model 800 delivers the performance, reliability, and security needed for
applications that incorporate traditional processor workloads as well as
e-business workloads. The iSeries 800 comes in a choice of two processor
options. The Value & Standard Edition offers a competitive entry point for
customers interested in 5250 performance and beginning to run e-business
workloads and extend applications via the Web. The Advanced Edition provides a
higher performance processor option and delivers the ability to simultaneously
run 5250 Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) workloads as well as e-business
workloads with WebSphere, Domino, Linux and other environments.
Model 800 is a compact unit which is suitable for most office environments. It
is 610mm tall, 610mm deep, and 366mm or 552mm wide (with expansion unit). Or in
inches, it is 24in tall, 24in deep, and 14.5in or 21.9in wide (with expansion
unit). The base 800 has space for 6 disk drives (the 366cm width). With an
optional system unit expansion (#7116) attached to the base Model 800 (the 552mm
width), there is space for up to 18 disk drives. These dimensions do not include
optional additional I/O towers or external I/O. One optional I/O towers can be
attached via a High Speed Link (HSL) loop providing space for up to 63 disk
drives and up to 21 PCI/PCI-X slots.
